Monkey Fact Monday

Hey Monkeys,

It is time for Monkey Fact Monday again! miniJghRocks wrote a great post on the Go Bananas Blog speaking about Baboons and I learned some stuff that I never even knew! The post was great! It is great to learn about monkeys every week! Well, let's discuss Baboons!

Baboons are Old World Monkeys who live mostly in Africa, and Asia, and they are also some of the largest primates! They mostly live in brush or grassy areas!

Baboons are terrestrial,(live on ground) but they still love to play in the trees! They are omnivorous, which means that they eat both meat and plants, but they prefer crop foods such as fruits!

There are five different species of Baboons! The smallest, the guinea baboon, has a body length of about 20 Inches, and they weigh about 30 lbs, while the largest, the Chicma Baboon, has a body length of about 47 inches and can weigh up to be 90 lbs!

Baboons can live in large or small troops of about 15-250 monkeys, but usually have about to 50 or 60 individuals! Wowsers!!

Baboons have long tails, and can have fur colors from a light gray to a lightish orange color! They have four very large, sharp teeth, with smaller ones surrounding them and long snouts.

Baboons also walk strange because of the length of their feet! Hehe!

Wow,great facts miniJghRocks! I really learned a lot about Baboons! What did you learn? Leave your thoughts and comments below!
